ABOUT ACUPRESSURE

Acupressure is the art of assessing and then releasing blocked or congested energy centers in the body, thus making way for a symmetric flow of energy. Acupressure is an ancient system that has been practiced in India and China for centuries. Traditionally, Asian cultures conceived the points as junctures of special pathways that carry human energy. Western scientists have also mapped out and proven the existence of this system of body points by using sensitive electrical devices. Modernization of society has made life hectic, strenuous, challenging and competitive. This constantly changing environment has taken its toll, and with the resultant increase of stress-related illnesses amongst the old and young, Acupressure offers much needed remedies.

HOW IT WORKS

Stimulating the acupressure points with pressure, causes the effect of reverse stimuli enhancing the coordination of mind and body. The stimuli further promote and trigger the neurotransmitters responsible for muscle function. As a result the functionality of the muscle is established and the pain is eased. The above is understood in the traditional approach as “blocked or constricted flow of energy to the affected area”.

At Dr. Sarvotham's Clinic, pressure is applied using the thumbs for a few seconds in sequential order, designed to awaken the meridians. It is further supported by stretching, breathing and quick de-polarization / re-polarization. This technique helps in relaxing the condition, increasing the energy levels in both mind and body.

Besides relieving pain, acupressure can help in balancing the body by dissolving tensions and stresses that inhibit the immune system and keep it from functioning smoothly. Proper circulation of bio-electrical energies promotes harmony, health, and well-being.

ACUCRANIO

CranioSacral Therapy originating in the early 1900’s is the science of feeling the motion of the cranial bones and the pulse of the body caused by the movement of the cerebrospinal fluids that maintain the balance of the nervous system. This unique technique, incorporated with acupressure, is called Acu-Cranio and is designed to reduce stress levels and eliminate related dysfunctions.

UNDERSTANDING STRESS

Stress is part of the normal fabric of human existence. Stress is a pattern of disruptive psychological and physiological functioning. When an environmental event, social, professional or familial, is perceived as a threat or when the challenge exceeds the capacity to adapt, then stress develops. Stress disrupts emotional stability, cognitive functioning and even the body's normal physiological activities. Long term stress, left unattended, could lead to various physical and psychological illnesses, such as body aches, headaches, depression, anxiety, spondylitis, back pain, etc. The cost of stress in terms of human suffering, social and occupational impairment and illness are enormous. Acupressure is one of the most effective methods to cope with and treat stress related ailments.
