Dr Vijay Sarvotham has devised a new therapy
called Acucranio combining sacral therapy for coping with stress.
Stress seems to be all pervading. Although it has turned out to be a normal
fabric of day-to-day life, long-term stress when left unattended could lead to
various physical illnesses. Even as you meet the demands of a hectic lifestyle,
there is a way out to minimize stress and other related disorders, believes Dr
Vijay Sarvotham.
While a regular exercise and diet regimen could go a long way in coping with
stress, he recommends 'Acucranio', an innovative therapy designed by him to
treat stress-related disorders.
A PG diploma holder in Acupressure from Singapore, Dr Vijay has specialized in
Cranio Sacral Therapy, using which he has devised the new therapy.
He shared with Metro life the benefits of the therapy.
Excerpts from the interview:
What is Acucranio?
Cranio Sacral Therapy is the science of feeling the pulse of the body by sending
the movement of the cerebrospinal fluids. This unique technique, when
incorporated with acupressure, is called Acucranio.
What are its benefits?
Acucranio can be used to detect and release the blocked or congested energy
centers in the body. This is done by stimulating the acupressure points, which
in turn triggers the release of endorphins. As a result, pain is blocked and the
flow of blood and oxygen to the affected area increases. This causes the muscles
to relax and promotes healing. Hence it can be used to treat various physical
ailments resulting from stress.
Which are the most common stress-related disorders?
Back pain, spondylitis, headache and fatigue are some of the common disorders,
with back pain and spondylitis being increasingly seen in the younger lot too.
Your advice?
Proper seating posture, a balanced diet and a regular exercise regimen are the
key. People suffering from back pain should take care not to sit or sleep on
hard surfaces, and not to do any strenuous exercise. Also take breaks when you
sit, stand or drive for long hours.
Whereas for spondylitis, I do not recommend exercise, while a pillow is highly
essential while sleeping.
